Jered Weaver allows nine runs

by Bill Chuck on August 18, 2012

Someone had to pay for the Rays not getting a baserunnner against Felix Hernandez and the Angels ace and Cy Young candidate Jered Weaver was the victim as the Rays clobbered the Angels, 12-3, with Weaver allowing nine runs. Weaver entered the game with a sparkling 2.22 ERA and left with a 2.74 ERA after his three ugly innings.

Weaver has now made 199 starts and this was his 33rd start of allowing five or more runs and 21 in which he has allowed six or more runs. He’s allowed seven or more runs nine times in his career, strangely twice this season which simply shows how well he’s pitched the rest of the time.
