The Washington National’s 20-year-old wunderkind Bryce Harper edged Arizona pitcher Wade Miley 112 points to 105 to become the second-youngest winner of the Jackie Robinson National League Rookie of the Year. Harper became the first Nationals /Expos player to earn the distinction.
The youngest NL ROY was New York Mets pitcher Dwight Gooden who won in 1984 and was one month younger. The great story here is that in 1984 Gooden’s manager was Harper’s 2012 manager, Davey Johnson.
