Mike Napoli is finally a Red Sox

by Bill Chuck on January 17, 2013

The Red Sox and Mike Napoli have reached an agreement on a one-year $5 million deal. As first reported by WEEI.com, the deal includes incentives that could increase the value of the contract back to roughly $13 million if Napoli does not spend any time on the disabled list due to a hip injury. On December 3, the two sides had agreed on a three-year, $39 million contract but that fell apart after concerns about Napoli’s hip after a team-administered physical on Dec. 10.
