20-Game Win Seasons for Pitchers 30 and Over

by Bill Chuck on February 21, 2013

Yesterday was Justin Verlander‘s 30th birthday and to celebrate I wrote about pitchers who won 20 games as a 30-year old.

This led to some confusion as there were some in the Twittersphere who thought I was writing about pitchers 30 and older.

I was not. Today I am.

There have been 169 different pitchers who had at least one 20+ win season upon reaching 30 and beyond (June 30 is the cutoff date to determine the age for a season)

Here are the pitchers who had a least four 20 win seasons after 30 led by the remarkable Warren Spahn, who had 10.

There are five active pitchers who have had a 20-win season since turning 30. Roy Halladay is the only with two, R.A. Dickey had his first last season, Chris Carpenter may not return, Bartolo Colon is a guilty PED user, and Andy Pettitte had his 20-game win season 10 years ago.
