The Dodgers Opening Day Starter is… No Surprise

by Bill Chuck on February 18, 2013

When the Los Angeles Dodgers open their season on April 1, their starter, against the World Series champion San Francisco Giants, will be Clayton Kershaw.

Kershaw will become the team’s first pitcher to start three straight openers since Derek Lowe from 2005-07.

The last Dodger to start four Opening Days was Pedro Martinez‘ older brother Ramon Martinez who was on the hill 1995-98. The Dodger record for Opening Day starts is shared by Don Drysdale and Don Sutton, but Sutton did it in consecutive seasons from 1972 to 1978.
