The sock is famous from Schilling’s performance on October 19, 2004 when he won Game 6 of the 2004 American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees.
The current bid for the sock is $60,000 and with the buyers premium the total is $71,700. Schilling will be using the money to pay down debt caused by the collapse of his Providence-based video game company.
The sock consigned by Schilling himself, will be sold as part of Heritage Auctions’ Feb. 23 Platinum Night Sports event at the Fletcher-Sinclair Mansion (Ukrainian Institute of America), in New York, at 2 E. 79th Street (at 5th Ave.). It carries a pre-auction estimate of $100,000+.Support Billy-Ball.com and the Bill Chuck Files
