Rays suffer a 2-1 loss

by Bill Chuck on June 13, 2013

Red Sox spot starter Alfredo Aceves has been more effective than many of the Boston pitchers in their rotation.

Aceves threw six innings, Daniel Nava homered and Boston beat the Tampa Bay Rays, 2-1. Aceves (3-1), recalled before the game from Triple-A Pawtucket, allowed one run (an Evan Longoria homer), four hits and four walks. This is the right-hander’s third stint with the Red Sox this season.

There have been 45 2-1 games this season and Tampa now has lost two of them both to the Red Sox.

Stat of note: The Marlins have only won 19 games this season and five have been 2-1 wins.

  • The Padres have won four 2-1 games, the Giants have won three.

Stat of note: The Mets, Royals, and Nationals have lost three 2-1 games.
