  • Scherzer now 10-0

by Bill Chuck on June 18, 2013

Max Scherzer moved to 10-0 as his Tigers defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 5-1.

Scherzer struck out 10 in six innings as he became the first starting pitcher to begin a season 10-0 since Roger Clemens went 11-0 for the Jays in 1997.

Scherzer is the first to have at least six strikeouts in his first 14 starts in a season since Pedro Martinez did it in 2001 for Boston.

In 1909, George Mullin opened 11-0 for the Tigers with one victory as a reliever.
