AN ULTRA QUALITY NIGHT

by Bill Chuck on July 6, 2013

This season, I developed a very simple statistic: the Ultra Quality Start (UQS).

An Ultra Quality Start is earned by a pitcher who has throws at least seven innings and allows two or fewer runs (earned or unearned).

So far this season, there have been 612 Ultra Quality Starts, with teams winning 464 of the games (75.8%).

A Quality Start is when a pitcher completes at least six innings and permits no more than three earned runs.

So far this season, there have been 1336 Quality Starts, with teams winning 887 of the games (66.3%).

Last night was a good UQS night with seven great performances
