The Red Sox team up to top the Padres

by Bill Chuck on July 5, 2013

There are many seasonal honors that can be argued, but there is no question that Ben Cherington is the Executive of the Year.

The Red Sox GM has cobbled together a team of veterans who are trying to prove themselves, players on pillow year contracts,  youngsters who are trying, and succeeding, to make their mark in the big leagues, potential free agents, with Dustin Pedroia, the ultimate team player, and David Ortiz, the face of Boston.

Despite a fair-to-middling pitching staff, each game produces another another hero. Yesterday, in defeating the weak Padres, 8-2, it was a team effort as they banged out 18 hits.
