Ultimate Quality Starts

by Bill Chuck on July 3, 2013

An Ultimate Quality Start is awarded when a starter throws at least seven innings and surrenders no more than two runs.

It was a magnificent night for pitching.

Homer Bailey‘s no-hitter.

John Lackey proved again that he is the top contender for Comeback Pitcher of the Year and may be the best pitcher on the Boston staff.

David Price came off the DL to pitch brilliantly.

Clayton Kershaw tossed his second shutout of the season and ended Michael Cuddyer‘s 27-game hitting streak.

Jered Weaver helped  the Los Angeles Angels extend their winning streak to seven games.

And, as soon as Stephen Strasburg left the game, the Brewers scored four off the Nats bullpen and defeated Washington 4-0.
