The No Walk/Complete Game Report

by Bill Chuck on August 20, 2013

Helped by a Brandon Moss walkoff homer with one out in the 9th inning, Jarrod Parker and the Oakland Athletics picked up a 2-1 win over the Mariners, 2-1. Parker (9-6) pitched his first career complete game, throwing just 100 pitches, allowing eight hits, while striking out eight

Meanwhile, in Chicago, Nate Schierholtz homered twice and drove in a career-high six runs, helping Jeff Samardzija and the Cubs to an 11-1 victory over the Nationals. Samardzija (7-11) pitched a six-hitter striking out five in his second complete game of the season and third of his career.

Neither Parker or Samardzija walked a batter.

There have only been 26 complete games this season in which the pitcher didn’t issue a walk.
