The #9 Hitter Report

by Bill Chuck on September 4, 2013

Okay, I won’t deny I love it when pitchers drive home runs in games. But since the AL doesn’t allow that, I love to track #9 hitters in the lineup.

Last night, there was a magnificent game at Fenway Park in which Jon Lester outdueled Max Scherzer and the Tigers, 2-1.

There was no shortage of great hitters playing in this game: Miguel Cabrera, David Ortiz, Prince Fielder, Dustin Pedroia, Victor Martinez, Torii Hunter, to namedrop a few.

But you know who drove home all the runs last night?

The #9 hitter for the Tigers, Jose Iglesias and the #9 hitter for the Red Sox, Will Middlebrooks.

Sweet.
