The Andrew Cashner Report

by Bill Chuck on September 17, 2013

San Diego’s Andrew Cashner had a perfect game going into the 7th inning after retiring the first 18 batters he faced before the Pirates Jose Tabata grounded a clean single into right field leading off the inning.

Andrew McCutchen grounded into an inning-ending double play as Cushner faced the minimum 27 batters in a one-hit 2-0 blanking of Pittsburgh.

It was his first complete game in 31 career starts.

But…

Born in 1969, the Padres remain the only major league franchise without a no-hitter.

Three pitchers have allowed one hit and faced 27 batters this season
