The Andy Pettitte Report

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that later today, the 41-year old Andy Pettitte will announce his retirement.

Pettitte is scheduled to start Sunday at the Stadium against the Giants appropriately on Mariano Rivera Day. Rivera has saved 72 of Pettitte’s wins, 23 more than any other pitcher for Mo, and 15 more than 57 the Dennis Eckersley and Bob Welch of the Oakland A’s combo.

Pettitte (10-10) has a 3.93 ERA and pitched in the major leagues since 1995 without ever having a a sub .500 season.
