There have now been 43 occasions in baseball history in which a player has had a 50+ homer season

Sadly when I tried to type them, my keyboard was covered in juice. Davis is the 16th lefty to reach that level it was the first time in his career that he crashed that number. Babe Ruth did it four times and Ken Griffey, twice.

One more thing…

According to Baltimoresportsreport.com, Steve Houff, an Orioles fan from Ellicott City,Maryland, went to Toronto to witness Chris Davis‘ 50th home run of the 2013 season and purchased the ball for $100 from a Blue Jays fan to give to Davis.

Houff met Davis after the game and received a bat and an autographed ball from Davis in exchange for the 50th home run ball.
