The Jon Lester Report

by Bill Chuck on September 21, 2013

Jon Lester has often been one of those pitchers who each year you expect to win the Cy Young Award, but doesn’t. However, in a time when we are finally minimizing wins as a measure of a pitcher’s efficacy, Lester has shown a consistent ability to win ball games, a trait that should not be minimized.

Last night, as the Red Sox secured first place in the AL East, it felt right that in the 6-3 win over Toronto, that Lester (15-8) should pick up the win. In the process, Lester earned his 100th career victory, all with Boston, allowing one run on five hits and two walks while striking out eight to win for his seventh win in his last nine decisions.

Lester is now 11th on the Boston all-time win list
