The Max Scherzer Report

by Bill Chuck on September 4, 2013

Max Scherzer pitched brilliantly last night.

Jon Lester pitched better.

The Tigers’ ace held Boston to two runs in seven innings of five-hit ball

Boston’s ace held the Tigers to one run in seven innings of eight-ball.

The Sox won, 2-1.

Scherzer learned that it is easier to lose two games in a season than it is to win 20 as he suffered his first road loss since July 30, 2012, once again like last night at Fenway Park.

Lester is now 13-8 with a 3.88 ERA. Scherzer is 19-2 with a 2.88 ERA.

Pitchers with at least 19 wins and fewer than three losses
