Secure in his NL Cy Young Award race, Clayton Kershaw is continuing his bid for the NL MVP.

Last night against the Padres, the Dodger great went seven shutout innings allowing just three hits while striking out 10. Kershaw (15-9) lowered his major league-best ERA to 1.88. He and increased his NL leading strikeout total to 224.

The loss enabled the Padres to clinch a losing season for the third consecutive year.
