My Bad Pick of the Day

by Bill Chuck on October 1, 2013

WHY THE REDS WILL WIN: I love Pittsburgh’s momentum, but Cincinnati starter Johnny Cueto is 8-2 with a 1.90 ERA lifetime in Pittsburgh with a 0.891 WHIP, and this season he has a 0.73 ERA and a microscopic 0.405 WHIP.

In addition, while Francisco Liriano had a great season against everyone, particularly lefties with his killer slider, including the Reds (Cincy lefties had a .091 BAA), he was 0-3 with a 3.70 ERA overall against the Reds.

FYI: Jay Bruce was 0-11 against Liriano this season, but Todd Frazier was 3-9 with two homers.

While it makes sense to take the Bucs, Liriano showed fatigue with a 5.14 September ERA, so I’ll go with the Baker Boys.
