The Incredibly Patient Xander Bogaerts and the Fenway Advantage

by Bill Chuck on October 21, 2013

It has been fascinating watching the arrival of Xander Boegarts. Watching this just-turned 21-year old at the plate is a tremendous example of calm maturity and patience. Bogaerts has 11 postseason plate appearances with three doubles, five walks and seven runs scored. He has taken the first pitch of each at bat and has run the count full seven times.

The Red Sox have six members of the bullpen who have not been scored upon at Fenway this postseason: Brandon Workman, Craig Breslow, Koji Uehara, Junichi Tazawa, Ryan Dempster, and Felix Doubront. Shane Victorino is hitting .333 at home this postseason but .150 on the road.
