The Star-ters Report

by Bill Chuck on October 16, 2013

Star light, star bright, will a starter win tonight?

For the most part, the starting pitching in the two League Championship Series has been brilliant

  • In the 14 games, the 14 starters have a combined 1.91 ERA, a 0.881 WHIP, and a .184 batting average against.
  • In 89.2 innings pitched, starters have allowed 59 hits, walked 20, and struck out 99 and have a 5-5 record.

And how have the pitchers regarded as “stars” done?

Zack Greinke, Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander, Clayton Kershaw, Clay Buchholz, and Adam Wainwright are all winless.

Take a look at the individual stats for the LCS starters in my article on BaseballAnalytics.org
