The Uehara/Lobaton Report

by Bill Chuck on October 8, 2013

There are almost as many story lines arising from last night’s Rays 5-4 win over the Red Sox as their are outstanding reporters recounting them, so I’ll just focus on the surprise ending.

Jose Lobaton hit a two-out 9th inning homer off Koji Uehara to give the Rays a 5-4 win and keep the Rays alive to fight another long night.

Baseball is crazy, right?

Uehara allowed five homers all season

The pitch was not a bad one…………..the batter obviously guessed that a splitter was coming…………..was over the heart of the plate, but was low, in fact, I am not even sure it would have been called a strike (was not in my mind)………..you simply tip your cap to the batter who made a perfect swing, the pitcher seemed to take it fine, I think he will rebound nicely (and he can certainly pitch tonight as he only threw 5 or 6 pitches!)………………..
