AL Retired Numbers
On April 15, 1997 - the 50th anniversary of Jackie Robinson's entrance into the major leagues - Major League Baseball retired his uniform #42 for every team. Players and coaches who wore the number as of 4/15/97 can use it for the duration of their career.
